Statement from Fisher House Foundation Chairman and CEO Kenneth Fisher - March 11, 2010

"We are thrilled and honored to be chosen as a recipient of President Obama's Nobel Prize award money. For 20 years, Fisher House has supported our troops and veterans by providing housing for their loved ones during their care and rehabilitation at military installations and VA medical centers around the world. It is a responsibility we take very seriously and have accepted as our duty and obligation to our servicemen and women."

About the Medical Center and St. Louis Fisher House

The St. Louis VAMC provides inpatient and ambulatory care in medicine, surgery, psychiatry, neurology, and rehabilitation, and many other subspeiclaty areas. It is a two-division facility that serves veterans and their families in east central Missouri and southwestern Illinois.

The John Cochran Division, named after the late Missouri congressmanm is located in midtown St. Louis and has all of the medical center's operative surgical capabilites, the ambulatory care unit, internsive care units, outpatient psychiatry clinics, and expanded laboratory.

The St. Louis Fisher House provides "a home away from home"; offering a warm, caring, comfortable, and convenient lodging for family members and caregivers coming to the St. Louis area with their loved ones that are undergoing extensive treatment and/or rehabilitation.
